On 9 January 2021 Joyce cycled 180 km, swam 3.8 km and ran 21.1 km as part of the Flying Dutchman Team to raise money for cancer research as she was telling us about in episode 27. In this episode she tells us how it was and how much was raised!

It was great to see the attention Joyce got for the podcast interview in December about this planned fundraising triathlon in Dubai. She was able to finish the race AND to raise an enormous amount for cancer research with the Flying Dutchman team that was participating with the triathlon from all over the world. Of course, it was not easy but Joyce was even able to enjoy it also because of the support by her friends during the race by accompanying her and even making a real finishing line!

Donating to Joyce's cause is still possible but that will end soon (https://thuistriathlon.mvdwfoundation.nl/actie/joyce-bijl/donateurs). However, if you want to donate to cancer research, there are still great charities out there. An example is https://sparkleupyourmind.com/ founded by Lianne Grootings Ritzen, someone who impressed and inspired us so much with her positive, strong mindset and the way she shared with the world what she was going through when she was dealing with her illness.

In loving memory of Lianne and my friend Jennifer C.
